East Grinstead

In the county of East Sussex, East Grinstead was the centre for local government - East Grinstead Urban District Council - until 1974. The headquarters of the Caravan Club is East Grinstead House. As a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), East Grinstead Town Centre Master Plan was adopted on 10 July 2006.

On Saturday 23 March 2013, the first passenger service that was paid departed at 9:45 from the station of East Grinstead, and, with services running each way every 45 minutes, the train for East Grinstead at 9:30 a.m. left Sheffield Park. As well as the New Invicta eventually, East Grinstead features in Psychoville (1995), the novel of Christopher Fowler, in which, as harbouring the Invicta Cross that is fictional, the town features.

The work of Archibald McIndoe and his team at the hospital and on the Guinea Pig Club and members, Claque Theatre produced the East Grinstead Community Play in the winter of 2010, which focussed on the bombing of the town in 1943. East Grinstead by the Worth Way and Forest Way Country Parks that are linear is served in addition to Ashdown Forest, which follow the line from Three Bridges that is disused all the way through to Groombridge and which are part of the Sustrans national cycle network.

Formed in 1978 train at Imberhorne School was the club, East Grinstead AC. Both to protect East Grinstead's buildings that are important (and its environs) and for future generations, to improve the amenities, the East Grinstead Society was founded as an independent body in 1968.

Charters Court, Springvale Community MH Centre, and the vast Asylum of Haywards Heath which as the residents were relocated closed in 1995, into the East Grinstead town and into the community, include facilities for the insane in East Grinstead. As part of the Rural District Council of Cuckfield, East Grinstead, along with Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath, as Mid-Sussex they came together; moving to the jurisdiction of West Sussex County Council.

In the Mid Sussex district's corner of West Sussex near the borders of Kent, Surrey, and East Sussex, East Grinstead is a civil parish and town. The East Grinstead Choral Society and the East Grinstead Operatic Society include groups. A variety of East Court pitches where East Grinstead Town F.C., Non-League football club, play and, at Mount Noddy, there are floodlit tennis courts and bowling green and tennis courts.
